Role:
The National Director is responsible for the work of the National Committee, branches, volunteers, and Sexpression:UK as a whole, and they maintain responsibility for the day-to-day running of the charity. They are accountable to the Chair of the Board of Trustees and report to the Board of Trustees. National Director applicants must have already served a term on the national committee in a different role.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure Sexpression:UK’s Constitution, Bye Laws, and internal policies are upheld.
- Ensure the charity is consistently working towards its overall goals, in accordance with the strategy aligned with the mission and values.
- Working with external contacts
- Represent Sexpression:UK at meetings, symposiums, events, etc.
- Act as the official point of contact for external organisations
- Where relevant, redirect these organisations to the most appropriate member of the National Committee for further communications
- Work with the Fundraising Director and trustees to help build relationships and find sponsorship for the organisation from suitable organisations
- Work to increase Sexpression:UK’s visibility
- Act as spokesperson for Sexpression:UK in media engagements
- Manage the Google Admin account, operating the overall organisation of the charity.
- Work with the Board of Trustees to guide the charity in a positive direction:
- Account to the Trustees for the way the charity is managed. (including collecting director updates quarterly)
- Contact the Chair of Trustees to get advice and to plan the strategy of the network
- Attend quarterly meetings with the Board of Trustees. During these meetings, provide feedback from the National Committee on their roles.
- Maintain the details and information on the Charity Commission website and ensure it is up to date alongside the Chair of the Board of Trustees
- Sit on sub-groups of the National Committee and Board of Trustees, such as strategy planning.
- Support the National Committee team in their work
- Work in partnership with National Committee members to reach outcomes related to their role for the year, and contact each member regularly to see how they are doing with tasks.
- These outcomes should be established in individual meetings at the beginning of their posts. Goals should be identified based on the overall charity’s strategy, and a plan for achieving them should be developed.
- The National Director should hold a second round of individual meetings halfway through members’ posts to discuss progress towards these goals and any further support required.
- Together with the incoming/outgoing National Director, run the National Committee and Trustees handover.
- This should include time to discuss SMART targets for each role that are aligned with the charity’s strategy, mission, and values for the coming year.
- Chair monthly National Committee online meetings (OLMs). During these, gain feedback on action points from previous meetings, establish what members have been working on for the past month, and encourage collaboration and communication between National Committee members on their different projects and ideas.
- Act as a Co-Signatory for the Sexpression:UK bank account.
- Store and manage Sexpression:UK’s merchandise stock
- Provide support in any vacant roles on the National Committee
