Role:
The Branches Director ensures that Sexpression:UK branches are at the heart of all decisions made by the National Committee by serving as an advocate for branches. They must champion branch issues and interests to the National Committee, whilst enforcing National Committee decisions and carrying out disciplinary actions when needed. Through this, they mediate branch-National Committee interactions and act as an intermediary for any actions or decisions made on either end. The workload is consistent but flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Official Branches of Sexpression:UK
- Organise and run annual Branch Coordinator training sessions
- Ensure that attendees of these sessions receive certificates, subject to giving feedback.
- Act as the first point of contact for Branch committees and Student Members
- Ensure that every Branch is meeting the criteria as set out in the Branch Agreement and Bye Laws, and if they are not, assist them to do so.
- If branches fail to do so, communicate this with the National Committee, which will decide on how best to address the situation.
- Ensure the safety and sustainability of how the Branches operate.
- This includes communicating any branch’s breach of the policies to the National Committee, which will decide if a strike will be issued. If it will, it is the responsibility of the Vice National Director to disseminate this.
- Signpost branches to resources in the branch pack, websites, and other National Committee members.
- Update Notion pages to ensure information is up-to-date and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Highlight the need to design/adapt training, policies, and/or resources based on the information raised by branches, and work with other members of the National Committee to do so
- Maintain means of communication with the branches. The platform(s) used should be based on feedback from volunteers. This may include sending Weekly Round Ups via email and/or the WhatsApp Community.
- This communication should, at a minimum, include weekly updates from the National Committee and Trustees (where necessary).
- Support members of the National Committee when working with Branches, facilitating healthy and ongoing relationships.
- Support the establishment of new Branches and encourage positive relationships between student unions and Sexpression:UK.
- Provide information to members of the public interested in setting up a branch and organise meetings related to this.
- Work with committees throughout the set-up process
- Liaise with other members of the National Committee to organise appropriate resources and training for new Branches
- Oversee Sexpression:UK’s internal affairs
- Organise Branches Councils alongside the Communications Director. There should be a minimum of 2 Branches Councils each academic year.
- Organise voting sessions, including designing and disseminating application forms and voting packs.
- Organise a host for Branches Council and support them in organisation.
